Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Own end-to-end research for priority journeys: Prioritize what to study when, and plan and execute research (interviews, usability tests, concept and prototype validation, journey mapping) to uncover friction points, unmet needs, and opportunities across core buyer and seller flows.

  • Improve decision quality during discovery: Partner with PMs and Designers early to validate problem statements, test hypotheses, and clarify what success should look like before engineering investment.

  • Translate user insight into product direction: Synthesize findings into sharp, actionable recommendations that shape prioritization, scope, and design decisions. Communicate trade-offs and implications so teams can act with confidence.

  • Make usability testing a consistent quality gate: Establish lightweight but repeatable testing on critical flows (search, listing, posting, lead, chat) across mobile app and web, so teams catch issues early and raise experience quality.

  • Build reusable insight assets that scale: Create journey maps, pain-point libraries, and insight summaries that teams can repeatedly reference, reducing re-learning and increasing consistency in decision-making.

  • Connect qualitative insight with behavioral data: Work with Product Analytics to triangulate what users say with what users do, so teams can make clearer go/no-go and iteration decisions post-test and post-launch.

  • Raise research rigor and trust: Ensure participant quality, unbiased moderation, and clear documentation so stakeholders trust insights and can act on them.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • UX research experience: 4-6 years of UX research experience in consumer products, marketplaces, classifieds, e-commerce, or high-traffic digital platforms.

  • Strong qualitative craft: Expertise in interviews, usability testing, and synthesis. Knows how to choose the right method for the decision at hand and deliver decision-ready recommendations.

  • High autonomy: Can independently scope, recruit, moderate, synthesize, and drive outcomes with minimal oversight.

  • Influence and communication: Strong track record of landing insights with PM, Design, and Business stakeholders, handling pushback, and shaping product decisions, with examples where research changed scope or prioritization. Able to present crisp insights that directly inform trade-offs, success criteria, and next steps.

  • Bias for action: Comfortable in fast-moving teams where research must be practical, timely, and directly tied to product outcomes.

  • Bonus: Experience with two-sided marketplaces (buyers and sellers), trust and safety, fraud or content quality journeys, or monetization flows.

Additional Information

  • Impact: Shape how millions of Malaysians buy and sell on the country’s largest marketplace.

  • Ownership: Build the foundations for how user insight becomes a consistent input into product decisions at Mudah.

  • Culture: Work with a product team that values measurable outcomes, strong craft, and high-quality execution.
