We are seeking an IP intern to work at the exciting intersection of Intellectual property and engineering. This internship offers exposure to a real-world patent work, collaboration with engineers and insight into in-house IP practice. This role is ideal for students considering careers in patent law, technology transfer or in-house IP roles.

What you will do:

Innovation Analysis

  • Collaborate with engineering and R&D Teams to understand new technologies, product developments and innovation concepts.
  • Review and analyze invention disclosures, assisting to translate technical ideas into patentable solutions under guidance from the IP team.
  • Assist in evaluating the commercial potential and technical merits of innovative ideas.

Patent Support

  • Support the IP team in maintaining and optimizing Rapsodo’s internal patent processes, including documentation and workflow efficiency.
  • Assist with the preparation, review and filing patent applications, gaining hands-on exposure to patent drafting and prosecution processes in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintain and update Rapsodo’s IP portfolio databases, records and filing documentation.
  • Prepare IP-related presentations and reports for both technical and non-technical team members.

Research & Documentation

  • Conduct patent and prior art searches to support invention evaluation and patent strategy.
  • Assist with patent clearance searches under supervision of the IP team.  
  • Maintain organized and accurate IP records and supporting documentation.


Requirements
  • Undergraduate or postgraduate students currently pursuing a Masters in IP Law (with a technical background) or a degree in engineering, computer science or related field with a strong interest in intellectual property.
  • Solid understanding of engineering principles and technologies, with interest in intellectual property.
  • Ability to grasp and communicate technical concepts clearly.
  • Familiarity with software and system design, platform architecture is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive, motivated, and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic and multi-cultural environment.
